How can Curiously Calm therapy help?
A synthesis of Hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness provides an effective approach that can be tailored to resolve your individual concerns.
Hypnotherapy is a natural, safe and effective complementary therapy that can be used to treat or manage many common conditions such as anxiety, chronic pain and insomnia.
Hypnosis can be described as being in a state of increased suggestibility that is achieved through simple techniques. Once in this calm and focused state you can use the power of imagination, visualization skills and therapeutic approaches to facilitate positive changes in the way that you think, feel and behave.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behavior. By bringing awareness to this interplay we are able to change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving and positively affect how we feel. CBT is recommended by the National Institute for Health Care and Excellence (NICE) and is widely used within the National Health Service (NHS) as an effective form of talking therapy. Research has shown that combining CBT with hypnotherapy increases the effectiveness of CBT.
Jon Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as: “Awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally”.
By developing an awareness of our moment-to-moment experience we can become more conscious of our thoughts and bodily sensations and how they relate to how we feel. We begin to acknowledge and accept things as they are and can become more attuned to our sensory experience of the world around us, leading to enhanced mental wellbeing.
Curiously Calm provides a therapeutic approach that combines Hypnosis, CBT and mindfulness and is:
Evidence Based – The techniques employed are based on many years of research.
Fast and Effective - Hypnosis is a relatively short-term therapy and research has shown that a combination of CBT and hypnosis increases the effectiveness of CBT
Collaborative - You are not at any point ‘controlled’ by the therapist; we work together to agree on your goals and address them appropriately.
Confidential and Professional – Membership of the General Hypnotherapy Register and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council and abiding by their code of ethics.
Finally and importantly, you will be trained in the skills you need to help yourself to make lasting, positive changes…
